Dec. 3 is almost a fixed date for Brahma Gana Sabha to begin their season's concerts every year. The inauguration also marks the presentation of awards as in many other sabhas. The 'Padmam' titles are given away to senior artistes in music, dance and drama.
This year the title Naadha Padhmam was presented to vocalist Sanjay Subrahmanyan. Naatya Padhmam to Prof C. V. Chandrasekar and Naataka Padhmam to Kovai Paddhu.
A new award Vaadhya Padhmam instituted this year was awarded to Trichy R.Thayumanavan, a senior Mridangam, Kanjira and Konnakol exponent.
This is also the day for release of the small programme guided for the rasikas.

The evening concerts are ticketed. The concerts by young artistes during the afternoon are open to all.
