Kartik Fine Arts opnes the December season

It is customary that Kartik Fine Arts opens its December Music Festival just as December begins.
Dot on Dec. 1, this sabha opens its month long festival every year honoring a musician and a dancer.

This year violinist R.K. Sriramkumar received the title 'Isai Peroli' and dancer Mythili Prakash was conferred the title 'Natana Mamani'.

For people who have seen R.K. Sriramkumar accompanying senior artists on the violin, here is another info about him. Sriramkumar is an accomplished singer too. He has been instrumental and worked along with T.M. Krishna is documenting the Sangita Sampradaya Pradarshini in its original notation.

Mythili Prakash, daughter and disciple of Smt. Viji Prakash, who is a disciple of Guru Kalyanasundaram and Guru Mahalingam Pillai of Sri Raja Rajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir, Bombay, is now based in the USA.

The day also had another major function in the city felicitating 'Chitravina' Ravikiran and many senior and junior artistes have to divide their evening between the two events, as the venues were closeby - Kartik Fine Arts at Narada Gana Sabha and Ravikiran's event at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium on the Luz Church Road. The audience were either getting up early and coming in late.

Kartik Fine Arts hosts the festival at many different venues.
